  2. 1. This five-mile loop combines four trails to visit two canyons in the mountains between Laguna Beach and Irvine. Little Sycamore Canyon is framed by a big wall of pocketed sandstone that makes it an interesting destination. The high end of the hike along Serrano Ridge Trail offers broad inland views toward the Santa Ana Mountains
  2. Laguna Ridge Trail is also a fun single-track if you can find it tucked behind the rocks and scrub. If you're really serious about spending some hiking in the hills of Laguna Beach, stay on Bommer Ridge Trail. You'll find plenty of fun choices of lateral trails intersecting this main track
  3. The full Rocky Ridge Trail begins at Valle Vista Staging Area and is 6.15 miles long one way, so I prefer to start at Rancho Laguna Park, making it 3.8 miles one way and 7.6 roundtrip (if you go to the end). To start the hike, sign in with your EBMUD permit number and proceed through the gate
  4. The Lightning Ridge Trail continues downslope toward Laguna Campground. You can follow it as it switchbacks through a confusing maze of false trails and shortcuts to the bottom of the hill, then.
  5. The Colinas Bluff trail is a great mixed-use double-track trail that follows the Colinas ridge between Laguna Niguel and San Juan Capistrano. It's a suburban trail with terrific, sweeping 360 degree views from Santiago Peak (or the San Gabriel mountains, when it's clear) to the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.. I like this trail because it's convenient for after work conditioning hikes.
  6. From the Big Bend staging area (marked on the map as post 20), take the fire road leading south from the parking lot. In 0.2 miles, you'll arrive at post 22, where the obscure Laguna Ridge Trail (your return route) branches off to the left

After 4.3 miles, turn slight right onto Laguna Dam Road. Follow this north and after 2.2 miles, stay right as the road becomes County 2nd St. Follow this as it bends slightly left, and after 0.8 miles, turn right onto a dirt road. Head east to canal and turn left. The trail begins here at approximately: 32.802353° -114.493967° 3 reviews of West Ridge Trail This is part of Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park but I still feel that it should be added because it can stand on it's own as a single trail. It's very convenient if you live in Aliso Viejo Trail Overview. The moon-like terrain is fun to explore and the the road takes a ridge line that offers amazing views below. It's a well-traveled dirt road with hikers, often in groups Also, Laguna Ridge Trail is closed because there was a wildfire in the area. Now, the area is prone to disturbance, since many of the plants have burned, leaving soil exposed. Feet and tires break up the soil, making erosion much more likely if there is rain. Disturbance can also destroy roots still alive below the ground 34 reviews of Pacific Ridge Trailhead By far my favorite place to run.
